NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: BJP National VP in charge of Assam and Delhi and former 4th times MP, Baijayant Jay Panda on Wednesday strongly condemned the police brutality on BJP Yuva Morcha workers in State Capital of Bhubaneswar.
The BJP National VP Panda alleged that the Naveen Patnaik led BJD Government in Odisha is getting jittery. Sharing videos of police brutality in twitter, the senior BJP leader Panda sought action against the erring police men.
“Is the Odisha government getting jittery? What else can explain the brutal police action against our young friends of @BJYM and the slapping of draconian cases. I strongly condemn this & ask that our karyakartas be released immediately,” Jay Panda said in a tweet.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also came down heavily on the BJD-led Odisha Government after members of BJP Yuva Morcha clashed with the police during their rally in the State Capital on Tuesday. The rally was being carried out from the party’s State headquarters towards the Odisha Legislative Assembly, protesting Minister Naba Das’s murder and the deteriorating law and order situation in the State, when police intercepted the agitators at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here.
“The manner in which police followed arbitrary directions from higher authorities and attacked the BJP youth workers is a threat to the system and does not augur well for a well-functioning democracy,” he said.
