PMUY to cover 314 blocks by August 31

BHUBANESWAR:Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 1, 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh and the state launch in Odisha was done by Shri Jual Oram, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Affairs in the presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble MOS (I/C), Petroleum & Natural gas on 20.06.2016 at Sambalpur.

In order to give wide publicity to the scheme, block level programs have been planned where connections for beneficiaries in the block will be released by prominent local personalities apart from giving education on the need to convert to greener fuels & Safe Handling Procedures. This will also build awareness among the local populace for converting to a greener & healthier fuel, LPG.

The program commenced from 11.07.2016 and will continue up to 31.08.2016, covering all 314 blocks in the state.On 11.7.2016 block level programs were held at the following places:-Nayagarh Block, Nayagarh District- 72 New connections were released under PMUY.

Ghatgaon Block, Keonjhar District- 30 New Connections were released under PMUY. Binika Block, Sonepur District-30 New Connections were released under PMUY. Malkangiri Block, Malkangiri District -12 New Connections were released under PMUY

Kandarpur Block, Cuttack District -63 New Connections were released under PMUY. Harabanga Block, Boudh District– 60 New Connections were released under PMUY

The functions were graced by local prominent people, oil company officials and local residents of the area. In total 267 new connections were released in the 6 blocks under Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana.
