PM Extends Best Wishes for Hockey World Cup-2023

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: With the inaugural ceremony for Men’s Hockey World Cup-2023 kicked off at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack in Odisha amid presence of Chief Minister Naveen and Union Sports , Youth Affairs and IB Minister Anurag Singh Thakur on Wednesday evening, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has extended his best wishes to all the participating teams on the commencement of the 2023 Hockey World Cup in Odisha.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said “As the 2023 Hockey World Cup commences in Odisha, my best wishes to all the participating teams. May this tournament further strengthen the spirit of sportsmanship and may it further popularise the beautiful game of Hockey. India is proud to be hosting this tournament.”

Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh, Disha Patani, singer and composer Pritam and many other were performing various musical and dance shows.

FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup is scheduled to begin on January 13, which would be played at Bhubaneswar Kalinga Stadium and Birsa Munda Stadium in the Steel City Rourkela. As many as 16 international  teams from across the world are participating in the event, here in Odisha.
