PM –CM Condoles the Death of Padma Shri Nanda Sir

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have  condoled the death of Nanda Sir alias Nanda Prusty of Odisha’s Jajpur.

“Pained by the demise of Shri Nanda Prusty Ji. The much respected “Nanda Sir” will be remembered for generations due to his efforts to spread the joys of education in Odisha. He drew the nation’s attention and affection a few weeks ago at the Padma Awards ceremony. Om Shanti,” PM Narendra Modi tweeted @narendramodi.

“ପଦ୍ମଶ୍ରୀ ପୁରସ୍କାର ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ଶିକ୍ଷକ ନନ୍ଦ କିଶୋର ପୃଷ୍ଟିଙ୍କ ଦେହାନ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ। ଶିକ୍ଷା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ବହୁମୂଲ୍ୟ ଅବଦାନ ଏବଂ ତାଙ୍କ ଜୀବନ ବ୍ୟାପୀ ତ୍ୟାଗ ଚିର ଆଦର୍ଶ ହୋଇରହିବ। ତାଙ୍କ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରିବା ସହ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଉଛି।,” CM Naveen Patnaik tweeted @Naveen_Odisha.

Padma Shri awardee and centenarian teacher from Jajpur, Nanda Kishore Prusty passed away here in a private hospital on Tuesday.

He had contracted Covid-19 and was admitted to a Covid hospital in Jajpur district. As his health condition deteriorated, Mr.Prusty was shifted to Sum Hospital here. He died at the age of 104, the family sources said.

The centenarian teacher belongs to Kantira village under Sukinda block of Jajpur district. Mr.Prusty was loved by one and all for his selfless dedication towards eradicating illiteracy in the area.

On November 9, he was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award for his contributions in the field of education.
