BHUBANESWAR: Of the 39 positive cases of COVID-19 till wee hours of Monday, sources revealed, Bhubaneswar, the State Capital Odisha, alone reported 32 cases forcing the people to desert the city. Many people called up travel agencies seeking to hire private cabs to leave the state capital for their villages, sources said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also appealed the people of the State Capital not to venture out and respect lockdown which has been imposed to contain spread of COVID-19 till April 14.
The CMO issued such a message after Health and Family Welfare Department announced that 18 people were tested positive to COVID-19 on Sunday itself. Of the 39 COVID-19 cases, as many as 32 come from the State capital.
The Department of Health and Family Welfare said the number of COVID positive cases has surged in Bhubaneswar during the last 3 days. Residents of the temple city are urged to take responsibility, stay indoors and work from home. Corona can be contained and together we shall overcome it, a DoHFW statement said.
In its bid to infuse confidence among the people, the DoHFW said about 15 of the new cases detected Sunday belonged to Bomikhal which has already been sealed. Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Municpal Corporation has notified 4 containment zones such as Surya Nagar, Bomikhal, Kapila Prasad, Jadupur & Begunia.
