BHUBANESWAR: Odisha PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik on Tuesday launched Sriballav-Sunanda Panigrahi Foundation in the presence of Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi, former MLA Sambalpur and trustees Priyadarshee and Rajarshi Panigrahi. It was named after former Deogarh MP.
“We launched a foundation in the name of our parents – Sriballav and Sunanda Panigrahi, today. It was launched by its trustees Niranjan Patnaik, President Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi, former MLA Sambalpur and me and my brother Rajarshi Panigrahi,” veteran Congress men Sriballav Panigrahi’s son Priyadarshee informed.
“It will be called the Sriballav & Sunanda Panigrahi Foundation. It will be slightly different from other foundations in a unique way – it will focus on promoting good governance and rewarding unsung heroes, among other things,” he added.
Sriballav Panigrahi was an Indian politician, a leader of the Indian National Congress party in Odisha and was a member of the All India Congress Committee. He was elected to the Parliament of India from the Deogarh Lok Sabha constituency, three times, 1984, 1991 and 1996. Born on 2 September 1940 in Sambalpur in Odisha, he died on 9 July 2015 at Bengaluru.
