CUTTACK/PARADIP:Paradip police have solved the case of a murder-suicide that occurred at the home of a Paradip woman in Vijaychandrapur Khuntia. In a press conference held at the Paradip police station, the Superintendent of Police of Jagatsinghpur district, providing details of the incident, told that the deceased woman’s boyfriend, Somnath Ojha of the Govindpur area, had been in a relationship with the woman for two years. On the day of the incident, he invited her to the Mahavir Temple in Balituha, met her, then dropped her off at Rahma Bazaar on his bike. Later, the woman was standing in the market area, feeling mentally distressed.
At that time, Shubham Kumar Singh, a lustful man from Jharkhand, approached her with malicious intent and asked her for directions to Paradip. Since the woman was mentally distressed and unwilling to return home, he fled to Paradip on the bike with the Bihari man. After arriving in Paradip, the young woman was taken to a house in Khuntia, in the Vijaychandrapur area of TariniGada, where the young man kept her in a rented house and raped her throughout the night.
He then took her to the rooftop and raped her. Early in the morning, to make the incident appear like a suicide, he pushed her from the rooftop, causing her to fall naked and die. The Bihari man who pushed her later left the scene. Upon receiving information, Paradip police arrived at the scene, sent the deceased woman to the hospital, and began investigating the incident. The accused, Shubham Singh, a Bihari man, and Somnath Ojha, the woman’s boyfriend from the Govindpur area, have been arrested and will appear in court tomorrow. However, Jagatsinghpur District Superintendent of Police, Ankit Verma, stated that an investigation is underway to determine who else was involved in this sensitive incident, and they will also be brought to justice.
