Gist of the Case:
A case was registered and an investigation was initiated based on the written report of the complainant, Parvathi Kumar Sahu (28).
It is pertinent to mention that the complainant, who personally handles GST and IT returns for private traders, was returning home with a total of Rs. 20,00,000/- in cash found with him in Cuttack on 24.11.2025. On the way, he met his friends Suresh and Saroj Sutar and went to a hotel with them to have dinner. During the conversation, the complainant informed them that he was carrying the money in a bag kept in his car.
During the verification of the complainant’s money trail, the authenticity of the same was confirmed by the lender who had given the said amount of money. During further investigation and CCTV and technical analysis, it was found that accused Saroj Sutar, who is a friend of Suresh and an acquaintance of the complainant, had earlier tried to take a loan of Rs. 2,00,000 /- from the complainant . After coming to know about the cash, he informed his associate Jagannath Mallick, directing him to take the money. Accused Jagannath formed a team consisting of accused Babul Behera and two others, who were armed with a heavy sword and deadly weapons, and set off towards Pahal on two motor cycles .
As part of the conspiracy, accused Saroj knowingly kept the complainant waiting near the foothills till the arrival of Jagannath and his accomplices. They then created a tense situation and forcibly extorted Rs. 20,00,000 /- from the complainant . In order to divert the investigation, accused Saroj Sutar himself went to the police station along with the complainant to file a report.
The accused, Babul and Saroj, were arrested in a raid . As the crime was clearly proven as per the available primary evidence, both the accused were produced before the court today following due process of law . Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the remaining accomplices and recover the remaining amount of loot.

1. Rs. 1,70,000/- seized from possession of accused Saroj Sutar,
2. Rs. 4,00,000/-, one KTM motorcycle, and one iron sword seized from possession of accused Babul Behera @ Niku.
