BHUBANESWAR:The Subhadra Shakti Mela, held at the local Idco Exhibition Grounds, continues to enthrall the audience on the sixth day. Over 300 stalls are showcasing unique products by self-help groups and producer groups from different parts of the state. From traditional handicrafts and artefacts to organic products, mothers’ hand-cooked food, furniture and decorative items, the Subhadra Shakti Mela has emerged as a destination for Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and women-led entrepreneurship.
The biggest attraction of the sixth day was the GI (One District One Product) or One District One Product Exhibition, where the audience got to see a unique attraction of products collected and manufactured from different districts of Odisha. Among the highlights of the day were Pipili Chandua, Koraput Coffee, Kandhamal Haldi, Puri Raghurajpur Pattachitra, Cuttack Tarksi and Dhokra Crafts, Subarnapur Pat Saree, Bhadrak Sukhua Mach, Sambalpuri Handloom, Kendrapara Golden Grass Products etc. These products reflect the craftsmanship of Odisha and provide a huge platform to lakhs of women entrepreneurs to showcase their products. The growing demand for these products reflects the growing demand for indigenous products among the people.
On this occasion, Mr. Heng Chiang Gni, Chairman of ITES (Institute of Technical Education Services), Singapore, and his 14-member team visited the fair. He interacted with the mothers and expressed his appreciation for the variety of handmade products available at the fair, which encouraged women entrepreneurs.
In the evening, the cultural program, performed by Vishnupriya Pala Sansad, mesmerized the audience. The program ended with the music of renowned vocalists Navya and Suraj Das.
Sales of over 3 crores have been recorded so far.
With various attractions, cultural programs, and enthusiasm for mothers’ handmade products increasing day by day, this 12-day celebration of women empowerment and entrepreneurship is offering a unique experience to the audience, enjoying the best of SHG products, delicious cuisine, and cultural performances, till November 12, 2025.
