BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Vigilance on Saturday said, Dr Prakash Kumar Mohapatra, Regional Officer Odisha State Pollution Control Board, Rourkela was intercepted today in Bhubaneswar while returning from Rourkela. Rs 1,75,810/- (suspected ill gotten cash) was recovered from his possession which he couldn’t account for satisfactorily.
The anti-Corruption agency said, House searches going on at his house in Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar. In this connection Bhubaneswar Vigilance . PS Case No.29 dtd.9.10.2021 U/s 7(a) 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) PC (Amend)Act, 2018 has been registered. P. K Mohapatra has been arrested is being forwarded to Court.
Earlier in the day , Bidhan Chandra Sahu, SE, Baitarni Irrigation Division., Salapada, Keonjhar was intercepted by Odisha Vigilance near Panikoili while proceeding to CTC carrying huge cash of Rs 10,07,620/- (suspected to be ill gotten money) which he couldn’t account for satisfactorily. The amount has been recovered from his possession. House searches launched at his office and residence in Cuttack. In this connection Cuttack Vig. PS case No.16 dtd.9.10.2021 U/S 7(a) 13(2)r/w 13(1)(b) PC(Amend)Act,2018 has been registered against Sri Sahu.
Sahu has been detained for further interrogation after he could not give any satisfactory answers towards the possession of the money. Further investigation into the case is continuing. He is also being questioned regarding the sources of the cash, officials said.
The amount has been recovered from his possession. He is being examined further in this case. House searches have been launched at his office and residence in Cuttack, officials further said.
