NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: While addressing the 3rd edition of Global Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturing Hubs in India at Hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi hosted by FICCI on Thursday, Odisha Industries, MSME & Energy Minister Pratap Keshari Deb said the government of Odisha will handhold the industry who wants to set up industry in the State.
“We are growing domestically at 8 per cent in the chemicals sector and to sustain this growth over the next 10 years we would need 40 per cent growth in the capacity. The government of Odisha will handhold the industry who wants to set up industry in the state,’ Minister Deb said.
In his address, Odisha Minister Pratap Keshari Deb said that the State is growing domestically at 8 per cent in the chemicals sector and to sustain this over the next 10 years, Odisha would need 40 per cent growth in the capacity. The Industrial Policy Resolution, 2022 of Odisha is very industrial friendly with provisions like tax breaks for manufacturing units, electrical duty exemption etc.
The event was graced by Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers, and New and Renewable Energy , Bhagwanth Khuba, FICCI President Subhrakant Panda, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Arun Baroka.
FICCI sources said, it is a sector which holds immense potential both in terms of employment and exports; and is set to grow at a fast pace to reach $1 trillion size by 2040 driven by domestic consumption and enabling policies of government.
Union FM Sitharaman also spoke about the challenges that the sector faces but also expressed confidence about its ability to contribute significantly to India’s growth. She also highlighted the government’s push to make India a manufacturing hub
