BHUBANESWAR: The 2005 batch Odisha cadre IPS Officer, Jai Narayan Pankaj, who heads STF and Economic Office Wing of Crime Branch, seems in no mode to let off wildlife criminals and drug mafias , who made this eastern State as a safe heaven.
Special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing by STF of Odisha Police Crime Branch. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 55 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram Cocaine and more than 111 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna, Opium 750 gram and arrested more than 156 drug dealers/peddlers.
Meanwhile, on the basis of intelligence input, a raid was conducted by team of STF, BBSR at Khordha on 25.6.2022 against illegal deal/possession of Narcotic Drugs and apprehended four drug peddlers namely 1) Rakesh Kumar Barik S/o. Rabindra Barik of Kochilabana Sahi PS. Khordha Dist. Khordha, 2) Biranchinarayan Sahoo S/o. Prasant Kumar Sahoo of Kochilabana Sahi, PS. Khordha, Dist. Khordha 3) Jagabandhu Biswal S/o. Pramod Biswal of Swapeneswar Sahi, Samantarapur PS. Khordha Town, Dist. Khordha and 4) Santosh Routray S/o. Bibhuranjan Routray of Saguan Bagicha PS. Khordha Town Dist. Khordha.
During search contraband brown sugar weighing 1030 gm and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from their possession. The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, for which the accused persons were arrested and is being forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Spl. Judge, Khordha.
In this connection STF PS Case No.16 dated 25.06.2022 U/s 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 was registered. Investigation is on.
