BHUBANESWAR: On the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted raid with the help of Kalahandi Police on 04.04.2024 morning near Narla Railway Station in Kalahandi regarding dealing/possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals, as a result of two wildlife criminals namely Chakra Benal , 45 Years S/O Manohar Benal Village: Talbora, PO: Lakbahali, PS: Lanjigada, Kalahandi, and Purna Chandra Bag, 39 Years S/O Chintamani Bag, Vill: Patang Pada, Narla Road, Bhatang, PS: Narla, in Kalahandi were apprehended.
During search one number of Leopard Skin along with other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession. The accused persons could not produce any authority in support of possession of such Leopard Skin, for which they have been apprehended and is being forwarded to the Court of JMFC, M Rampur Dist. Kalahandi.
In this connection STF PS Case No.16 dated 04.04.2024 U/s 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. Sec.51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 was registered. The skin will be sent to Director WII, Derhadun for biological examination. Investigation is going on.
