BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday released Rs 386 crore as Chief Minister Covid assistance for 18 lakh landless farming families under the KALIA scheme.
This includes one installment of KALIA scheme and an additional Covid assistance of Rs 1,000 for each landless farmer. Patnaik said, “The farmers, workers and labourers are the nucleus of our economy. For quite long, we have been demanding to implement the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Committee and our fight will continue until it is achieved.
As the Covid lockdown and shutdown have heavily impacted the vulnerable class of people, we have offered assistance to them,” he said.The special Covid assistance was directly credited to the farmers’ accounts.Farmers under the KALIA scheme get Rs 12,500 each in three annual installments.
