BHUBANESWAR: Odisha DGP Abhay , who was flying along with Director Intelligence, RK Sharma and IGP(Operations) Amitabh Thakur on Sunday over and above the hills of Malkangiri, which houses the outlawed Maoists’ hotbed under south-western police range, were found them in surprise after they came across the beauty and fragrance of Swabhiman Anchal, once unreachable, now seeing the fruits of development because of pro-active role of Odisha Police as well as Central Forces stationed here to fight against the dreaded leftwing ultras in dense forest of Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada.
Backed by pro-people policies of Naveen Patnaik led Government with 5T Secretary VK Pandian taking the lead to implement it, Odisha Police lead by DGP Abhay now not missing a single stone unturned to reach out the remote pockets of Malkangiri to win the confidence of locals, who have been largely hit due to left wing insurgency related violence.
DGP Abhay , Director Intelligence Sharma and IGP(Operations) Thakur have been frequently travelling to south-western police range headquarters at Koraput’s Sunabeda, manned by able DIG Shefeen K Ahamed and holding regular security meetings with Central Forces stationed here. “Joint attack fetching good results for the State Police in past several months with killing of Maoists and seizer of arms and ammunitions,” Police sources said.
DIG(SOG) Aniruddh Singh, DIG( SWR)Shefeen Ahmed K and Malkangiri SP Khilari Rishikesh are jointly giving sleepless nights to outlawed leftwing ultras due to regular push from Police Headquarters’, sources added.

“DGP held a detailed review of LWE issues in Malkangiri . SP MKG, DIG SWR, DIG BSF MKG and many commandants of BSF participated. DGP was accompanied by Dir Int, IG Ops, IG BSF n JD IB in this visit/ review,” it said.
“Shri Abhay, DGP Odisha held review meeting with senior officers of Odisha Police & BSF on LWE scenario & emphasized on sustained, coordinated efforts against LWE for peaceful devt of Swabhiman Anchal & MKG dist. They also commended work of Police & SOG teams on COVID & LWE fronts,” SP Malkangiri tweeted @spmalkangiri.
“Shri Abhay, DGP Odisha Police & other senior officers of Odisha Police & BSF visited newly established Gurasethu COB in SwabhimanAnchal & interacted with the BSF, SOG & district police forces stationed there. They also interacted with the locals to understand their problems,” SP said in another tweet.
