ANGUL/JAJPUR/CUTTACK:A total of 214 tankers/containers carrying 3964.542 MT medical oxygen have been escorted so far from Rourkela, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul districts of Odisha by Odisha Police. More are leaving on Sunday.
As many as 26 tankers were dispatched from Angul with 425.02 MT, 46 from Dhenkanal with 729.25 MT, 60 from Jajpur with 1239.57 MT and 82 from Rourkela with 1570.702 MT.
Further, 64 tankers with 1347.55 MT of oxygen were sent to Andhra Pradesh, 60 tankers with 1012.489 MT of oxygen were sent to Telengana. Tamilnadu received 05 tanker filled with 98.54 MT of medical oxygen. Similarly, Haryana received 22 tankers filled with 454.592 MT of oxygen. 12 tankers with 195.76 MT of oxygen were sent to Maharashtra, while 168.101 MT of oxygen filled in 11 tankers have left for Chhattisgarh. As many as 17 tankers have carried around 309.99 MT of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh and 23 nos of tankers with 377.52 MT of oxygen were sent to Madhya Pradesh in last 10 days.
Based on the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a Special Cell was formed under S Y K Jethwa, ADG (L&O) as the Nodal Officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen by Odisha to States facing deficit. A Dedicated Corridor has been set up with round the clock monitoring. District SsP/DCsP and Range DIG/IG/CP are supervising the movement personally within their jurisdictions.
