Odisha Police EOW takes a Madhya Pradesh based IT Engineer on Transit Remand over Job Fraud Scam

BHUBANESWAR: Sequel to an earlier arrest, a team of EOW Odisha conducted raids at various places of Madhya Pradesh and arrested one Arpit Panchal, a resident of Jaora, District- Ratlam (Near Ujjain),Madhya Pradesh, on 10.01.23, from Jaora in connection with EOW P.S Case No,-17 dt 10.09.22 u/s467/468/471/420/120-B IPC and produced the arrested accused before the local Court of JMFC,Jaora, on 11.01.23.

The arrestee was brought to Bhubaneswar on the strength of transit remand and will be produced before the Hon’ble Court of SDJM, Bhubaneswar today i.e. on 15.01.23.

The arrested accused Arpita Panchal, a Bachelor in Engineering in Information Technology, forms the part of one of the biggest organized job fraud of the country.

The arrested accused in conspiracy with other inter-state fraudsters has duped, as an approximation, at least50,000 job seekers youth across the country in respect of the amount that run in Crores. The fraudwas being perpetrated by a group of highly tech savvy engineers from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh withthe help of some expert website developers.

The arrested accused being an IT expert is skilled increating and designing websites and well conversant with at least 4 (four) computer languages.He is now employed with a private agency. He in connivance with Zafar Ahamad who has earlierbeen arrested in the case and other fraudsters created and designed at least 9 websites which looked like Government websites advertising various Govt Jobs.

It is quite possible that they developed and used many other websites too to lure/ cheat the poor gullible job seeking youths in many states. EOW is investigating in this direction.

Out of the 9 websites, they were using 4 websites in Odisha in floating the advertisements and have duped at least 12,000 job seekers of Odisha alone in respect of the amounts varying from Rs.3000/- to Rs.50,000/- per each candidate.

So far, at least 22,000 duped job seekers have been identified from Odisha and Gujarat and the figures of other States like West Bengal, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh etc. are under investigation, The remaining 5 websites are being used in other states for the purpose of advertisement in their respective regional language.Investigation is still going on to unearth the involvement of others and the huge amountamassed by the fraudsters in this process.
