BHUBANESWAR/BHADRAK/JAJPUR: With fresh 13 COVID-19 positive cases taking the figure to 74, Odisha Government on Monday stepped up its efforts to trace people who came from West Bengal.
The Odisha Government has released the details of 13 new positive cases of COVID-19 detected in the state on Monday.As per the details, Case no. 62 is a 48-years-old, Case no. 63 is a 55-yrs-old male, Case no. 64 is a 57-yrs-old male, Case no. 65 is a 58-yrs-old male, and Case no. 66 is a 66-yrs-old male. All the five positive cases hail from Bhadrak district and contact tracing and follow-up action is being done, the health dept said.
Case no. 67 is a 32-yrs-old male and the Case no. 68 is a two-yr-old female child, both from Balasore district. Their contact tracing and follow-up action is being done.Case no. 69 is a 40-yrs-old male from Bisra in Sundargarh and stated to be a contact case. His contact tracing and follow-up action is being done.
The State Health Dept also revealed the details of five new COVID-19 positive cases hailing from Jajpur district. Case no. 70 is a 28-yrs-old male, Case no. 71 is a 32-yrs-old male, Case no. 72 is a 50-yrs-old male, Case no. is a 58-yrs-old male and Case no. is a 64-yrs-old male. Their contact tracing and follow-up action is being done.
Further, the State Government has urged the people, who have travel history to West Bengal during the last 28 days to inform the local Sarpanch, BDO/Tahasildar and quarantine themselves at home. As per the latest report from H&FW Dept, 10 persons of Bhadrak and Jajpur districts with travel history to West Bengal have tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.
One-third COVID-19 cases in Odisha have travel history to West Bengal, informed Odisha government Chief Spokesperson on Coronavirus, Subroto Bagchi. Bagchi said till date, there are 74 positive COVID cases out of which 24 are those who have come from West Bengal. Most of these cases were identified by Panchayats in Odisha, who in turn informed the district administration and put them in quarantine, he added.
As it is not possible for state/district administration as well as the police to keep watch on every village, the chief minister has bestowed the powers of collectors with sarpanches to deal with the situation.
Ten persons of Bhadrak and Jajpur districts with travel history to West Bengal have tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours. All with travel history to WB during the past 28 days are requested to inform the local Sarpanch, BDO/Tahasildar and quarantine themselves at home.
The Chief Spokesperson said the district administrations have been instructed to conduct on-spot inquiries on the situation and take appropriate action. Bagchi said panchayats play a vital role in the current situation and added that their alertness, awareness, and cooperation matters most.
