BHUBANESWAR: The steel plant projects proposed by Nippon Steel Corporation along with Arcellor Mittal at Odisha’s coastal pockets of Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur in eastern India, seems, moving in right direction after the global steel maker, assured visiting Chief Minister Naveen Patanik for successful commissioning of these projects in time bound manner.
CM Patnaik , who visited the R&D centre of Nippon Steel Corporation in Japan and lauded the Global steel maker’s effort to keep eco-friendly environment, later held a detail discussion with the Nippon Steel officials.
Industry , Energy, MSME Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, Chief Secretary PK Jena, 5T Secretary VK Pandian , CM’s Special Secretary R Vineel Krishna, Industry Secretary Hemant Sharma were among those present during the meeting.
“I want to thank you all greeting our team of Odisha. We are looking forward to see your famous Steel plants and of course for future collaboration for your steel production in Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur,” CM Patnaik said.
Earlier in the day, 5T Secretary VK Pandian had shared CM Patnaik’s visit to the R&D centre of Nippon Steel Corporation and also his reaction in social media sites. ‘We just had a tour of Nippon Steel plant and was most impressed to their factory units and shipping location, from where raw materials comes . I am deeply impressed what they done for the environment which will be very useful. Our plants which will come up in Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur must adhere it,’ Patnaik said.
CM Patnaik had on Tuesday earlier, met Eiji Hashimoto; President of Nippon Steel during Odisha Investors Meet in Tokyo in Japan, and had discussed about company’s plan to build one of the world’s largest steel plants in Odisha along with Laxmi Mittal led Arcellor Mittal.
. The 30MT plant will produce speciality steel. Chief Minister Patnaik had assured complete support to the proposed mega plant which will give huge boost to socio-economic development of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendujhar and generate thousands of jobs for youths of Odisha.
The visit of the Chief Minister and the state delegation to Japan is a significant step towards promoting Odisha as a preferred investment destination and fostering closer ties between Japan and Odisha.
