JODA/KOIRA: Odisha Steel and Mines Department has imposed ban on mineral transportation of Pro Minerals Private Limited, a sister concern of Aditya Birla Group’s Essel Mining and Industries Ltd in Odisha’s mineral rich Joda-Koira region of Keonjhar-Sundargarh districts.
Sources said about 7298.043 Mt iron ore shortage was found. The Company has violated Odisha Minerals Prevention of Theft Smuggling and Illegal Mining (OMPTS-2007) laws.
The move of the DDM Joda Circle Laxmidhar Nayak came following reports of mineral theft from the stocks of Pro Minerals Private Limited. The mineral transportation from Koira and Kasia mines to plant side has been banned. DDM Koira Circle Salil Behera also said restrictions have been imposed.
Joint Director in Directorate of Mines, Umesh Jena also confirmed the development. Sources said with senior Steel and Mines Department officials were busy in online bidding process , rampant theft of minerals are going on in several mines and stockyards.
Pro Minerals Private Limited(PMPL) has been incorporated under Companies Act, 1956 and came into existence with effect from 21-Sep-2010 The company was established for setting up a fully integrated pellet plant at Basantpur, Odisha.
PMPL went to Corporate insolvency and EMIL have acquired PMPL through and the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process in the month of March 2019.
The acquisition provided immediate synergies to EMIL`s Existing iron ore mining operations at Jilling and Koira, by facilitating maximisation of volumes.
The final stage of auction for Jilling-Langalota iron ore block in Kenojhar will be held Wednesday. Adani Enterprises has made the highest initial price offer of 80.70 per cent while Serajuddin, JSW Steel, Rungta and Aditya Birla’s Essel mining were among the contenders. As many as 19 blocks have been put on the block.
