Odisha Health Minister Naba Das’s untimely death shocked CM Naveen Patnaik

BHUBANESWAR:  Amid tension and grief,  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep shock and distress over the unfortunate death of Health Minister 61 year old Naba Das.

Health Minister Naba Das , who received gun shots when a police ASI opened fire on him at Brajarajnagar today, succumbed to his injuries while being treated at a private hospital here.

Apollo Hospital Press Statement “The injuries were repaired, and steps were taken to improve the pumping of the heart. He was given urgent ICU care. But despite best of efforts, he could not be revived and succumbed to his injuries”.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said that I am shocked and distressed over the very unfortunate demise of minister Naba Das.

The doctors made every possible effort to save his life. But unfortunately, he could not recover, said Patnaik. He was an asset for both the government and BJD. He has successfully carried many initiatives in the health department to the benefit of the people, added chief minister added.

As a leader, he was instrumental in strengthening Biju Janata Dal, the CM said. He was a grass root person and was loved and respected by all, cutting across parties and sections of people.His death is a great loss to the State of Odisha, he added.

Patnaik has prayed for peace and tranquility of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy for the bereaved family members.

CID Crime Branch has taken up investigation of Brajarajnagar P.S (District Jharsuguda) Case No. 34/2023 .

CID-Crime branch has taken over the case of unfortunate incident of firing on Hon’ble Minister Sh. Naba Kishore Das. A seven members special Investigating team comprising Cyber Expert, Ballistic Expert and officers of Crime Branch has been formed.

The team is led by Sh. Ramesh Ch Dora OPS, DySP. He along with a Ballastics expert has reached Jharsuguda by a special helicopter to immediately start the investigation pending arrival of other team members. Shri Arun Bothara IPS, ADGP, CID-CB has also accompanied them to personally supervise and monitor the investigation.  

 It corresponds to CID Crime Branch PS Case No. 02 Dtd. 29.01.2023 U/S 307 IPC  R/W  27 Arms Act.

Meanwhile, accused Gopal Das , who is a overexcited man, was not regularly coming for treatment for the last one year, said chief doctor of the Psychiatry Department of MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH) Chandrasekhar Tripathy.
