BHUBANESWAR:  The 77th Republic Day celebrations in Odisha took place on January 26, 2026, with the state-level event held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg (Gandhi Marg) in Bhubaneswar. Odisha’s Governor, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati  presided over the main ceremony. He unfurled the National Flag (Tricolour) and took the salute from the ceremonial parade, marking the official start of the proceedings.

The event featured a grand parade with patriotic fervor, including:

Participation from 51 contingents.

Display of 12 tableaux (pragyanapana medha) showcasing state government schemes and initiatives.

Cultural performances, thrilling displays, and marches that highlighted unity, progress, and Odisha’s heritage.

A video message or address from Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati was shared on the occasion , conveying greetings to citizens and reaffirming faith in the Constitution and national values. His message emphasized the historic importance of Republic Day as a reaffirmation of unity, pride, and commitment to India’s democratic principles.

The celebrations were led jointly with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who participated and delivered remarks focusing on themes like constitutional unity binding people as brothers, tributes to great leaders and freedom fighters, and the role of the Constitution in guiding the nation with rule of law.

Overall, the Bhubaneswar event symbolized Odisha’s pride in the nation’s achievements, with a blend of military-style discipline, cultural elements, and forward-looking messages on development and harmony. Similar flag-hoisting and addresses occurred in other districts, but the state capital hosted the primary official program. Jai Hind!
