BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Economic Survey 2025-26 was tabled in the Odisha Legislative Assembly today on Thursday.

This annual report, prepared by the Planning & Convergence Department, provides a comprehensive overview of the state’s economic performance, projections, and sectoral developments.

It highlights Odisha’s robust growth, outpacing national averages in several key areas, ahead of the state budget presentation tomorrow.

Key Highlights from the Survey:

Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP): Estimated at ₹9.9 lakh crore at current prices for 2025-26, marking a year-on-year increase of 9.5% from ₹9 lakh crore in 2024-25. The state is on track to approach the ₹10 lakh crore milestone.

Real Economic Growth: Projected at 7.9% in 2025-26 (at constant prices), up from 7.2% in 2024-25 and surpassing the national average of 7.4%. This reflects broad-based expansion across sectors, driven by rising private and public investments.

Sectoral Contributions and Performance:

Industry remains a major driver, contributing 41.3% to Gross State Value Added (around ₹3.6 lakh crore). Industrial growth has surged ahead of the national average, supported by momentum in manufacturing and related areas.

Strong performance in agriculture (with record foodgrain output noted in some reports), infrastructure, and social sectors.

Overall, the economy shows balanced, inclusive growth with progress in per capita income, fiscal discipline, and financial inclusion.

Broader Context: The survey underscores Odisha’s steady progress toward becoming a larger economy, with emphasis on investments in emerging sectors, job creation, and sustainable development.
