CUTTACK: The Odisha Director General of Police Abhay on Thursday has reviewed the law and order situation in the state through video conferencing with top police officials. The review meeting was attended by ADG Binaytosh Mishra, ADG(law and order) Soumendra Priyadarshi, IG, (Modernisation) Rekha Lehani, IG (SCRB) Rajesh Kumar, IG Jatindra Koel and IG(Crime Branch) Amitendra Nath Sinha.
The officials included in the review meeting were IGs of different ranges, Police Commissioners and DCPs and SPs of different districts.
The focus was on streamlisation of services of the police and implementation of different schemes that will be helpful for effectively maintaining the law and order situation in the state.
The DGP has advised the police officials to take effective measures relating to road blockades occurring from time to time and urged the SPs to remain alert on the issue.
DGP Abhay also dwelt at length on crime and criminal tracking network (CCTNS). He discussed the measures to be taken for implementation of the system. He asked the SPs to ensure that stockpiling of cases under investigation at various police stations is reduced to the utmost.
The DGP also took up a discussion regarding the forthcoming International Women’s Day and asked the officials to ensure that a cancer detection camp is arranged on the day. The video conferencing also took up matters relating to different problems of police officials.
He asked the concerned SPs to identify lands for setting up offices and other wings of the department.
