BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Cricket Association Vice President and MGM Minerals Ltd Chairman, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, has paid a visit to Uttarakhand’s Dehradun based Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, sources said on Saturday.
Odisha’s one of the most influential sports organisers and promoters, Mr Mohanty’s MGM Minerals Ltd Group is running MGM School of Sports, Centre of Excellence for Cricket at Kapursingh, Gurudijhatia in Athagarh in Cuttack.
During his visit, OCA Vice President, Mr Mohanty met with RP Easwaran Founder and Owner of Abhimanyu Cricket Academy at Dehradun.Mr Mohanty also met with Mr Kiran More former Indian International Cricketer at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy in Dehradun.
Mr Mohanty also met Manas Mengwal Treasurer Uttarakhand Cricket Association in Deheradun. Mr Mohanty discussed various issues relating to grassroot level cricket and also highlighted about the MGM School of Sports, Centre of Excellence for Cricket, which was set up in Odisha.
It may be noted here that, Abhimanyu Cricket Academy is a multi-purpose stadium in Dehradun in Uttarakhand. The ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, cricket and other sports.In 2005, RP Easwaran bought a large plot of land in Dehradun and started building a cricket stadium. The company that runs the cricket academy owned by Easwaran – the National School of Cricket – was called Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, inspired by the character of the Mahabharata.
MGM School of Sports, Centre of Excellence for Cricket at Kapursingh, Gurudijhatia in Athagarh in Cuttack has been made to fulfil the vision of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make the State as Sports hub. The total project cost is around Rs 40 Crore. The newly inaugurated Center of Excellence for Cricket is being designed to accommodate 100 players for cricket and other sports apart from other supporting staffs. In fact priorities has been given to players from Odisha. The land area for the project is 30 Acres.
