Odisha COVID-19 positive case reaches at 21, Complete Lockdown gets Good Response

BHUBANESWAR/BHAWANIPATNA: With one more COVID-19 positive case coming from Western Odisha district of Kalahandi, the total figure in the State reached at 21, Health and Family Welfare Department said in a twit.

Samples of a 29-year-old male from Kalahandi district were found to be positive for the deadly virus. He has travel history to Bahrain.The sources added the new COVID-19 patient was asymptomatic. He is likely to be admitted to the new COVID hospital set up at Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack, sources said.

Out of 304 samples from the State tested today, one was found to be COVID-19 positive.At RMRC and AIIMS, Bhubaneswar a total of 223 and 38 samples were tested while 38 samples were tested at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Till date 1699 samples from Odisha were tested and 21 of them were COVID-19 positive cases.

Bhubanswar Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary revealed the link of three patients who tested positive for the deadly virus during the past couple of days.

A man from Danagahari village in Pipili area of Puri district, who tested positive for the virus yesterday, stays in BJB Nagar, Bhubaneswar informed, the BMC Commissioner. The COVID-19 patient works as a postman at BJB Nagar Sub Post Office and had returned from Delhi on March 10.

As the service area of the postman is Gautam Nagar and Court area, the BMC Commissioner requested the people who have came in contact with the concerned person to call Health Helpline -104 and register themselves.

Regarding Bomikhal case, Chaudhary said father of the three brothers, who were found to be positive for COVID-19 yesterday, stays in Bhopal and has been tested positive for the virus.This apart, the official disclosed the outside state connection of the 60-year-old man from Surya Nagar in Bhubaneswar who was tested positive for the virus on Thursday.

One of the man’s family members travelled to Kolkata and stayed there for four days. The family member also tested positive for the deadly virus, Chaudhary said.

The official further said active surveillance of the residents of the areas where the COVID-19 patients have been staying will be undertaken as earlier and sought cooperation from people for the same.

Till Saturday, a total of 21 persons from the State have tested positive for COVID-19. Out of them 14 have been staying in Bhubaneswar alone.
