BHUBANESWAR/KOLKATA: Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal on Sunday is deeply saddened to know about the demise of doyen & most celebrated bengali actor and Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee #SoumitraChatterjee. ‘He will always be remembered for his stellar roles and association with iconic director Satyajit Ray & others,’ Prof Lal expressed .
Chief Minster Naveen Patnaik has also condole the death of Dadasaheb Phalke and Padma Bhushan awardee SoumitraChatterjee.“Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of veteran film actor and Dadasaheb Phalke & Padma Bhushan awardee #SoumitraChatterjee. Legendary actor Soumitra Chatterjee, star of some of Bengali cinema’s finest films, has died. He was 85. Mr Chatterjee tested positive for COVID-19 last month and was taken to hospital. An official statement read: “We declare with heavy heart that Shri Soumitra Chattopadhyay breathed his last at 12-15 pm at Belle Vue Clinic on Sunday We pay our homage to his soul.” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived at the hospital soon after Soumitra Chatterjee’s death to be with the actor’s family.
