BHUBANESWAR: The BJP Government led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Odisha has decided to extend its support for both Indian Hockey teams for a period of another three years to 2036, the year when Odisha will complete 100 years of its formation.
This was decided at a high-level meeting attended by Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey and Hockey India Secretary General Shri Bhola Nath Singh, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena and Sports Secretary R. Vineel Krishna. Since 2018, Odisha has been a principal sponsor of Indian hockey.
The Chief Minister said that the Odisha Government is going to celebrate the centenary of the formation of a separate Odisha state in 2036, therefore the sponsorship period of the Odisha Government to Hockey India will be extended for another three years from 2033 and all the support from the State Government will be provided for the development of hockey.
