BHUBANESWAR: Ending all speculations and grapevines, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Monday laid the foundation stone for Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project and said, once completed, it will be single largest investment project in infrastructure sector in Odisha.
Ministers Usha Devi, Ranedra Pratap Swain, Ashok Panda, 5T-Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian, MLAs Sushant Rout, Chandrasarathi Behera, Devi Ranjan Tripathy, Souvik Biswal, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, Mayor Cuttack Subash Singh and others were among those present.
CM Patnaik said, the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project will have 20 Stations from Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia in Cuttack and will be completed in 4 years of time. It will transform the entire transport system. Rs 6000 crore will be spent for this purpose.
Earlier, Chief Minister paid his respects to his father and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik at the Airport and then went on roadshow to Trisulia. Thousands of people attended the roadshow and shown their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the historic project.
The roadshow started from the Airport and passed through various junctions of the city including Capital Hospital Square, Sastri Nagar, Jayadev Vihar, Xavier Square, Patia, Damana, KIIT Square, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan, and Baranga till Trisulia.
The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project will connect Bhubaneswar Airport with Trisulia on the outskirts of Cuttack in the first phase, covering a 26-kilometer-long route with 20 stations, and is expected to be completed in four years with an investment of Rs 6255 Crore.
