BHUBANESWAR: A 3 days Training for Officers of Cyber Cell, Odisha Police on “Tools & Techniques for Investigating Cyber Crimes against Children” is being organized by Crime Branch, Odisha in collaboration with UNICEF, Odisha from 07.08.2023 to 12.08.2023 in two phases at Cyber Complex, Crime Branch in Bhubaneswar.
Thirty-four (34) Police Officers of the rank of Sub Inspector and above from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Cuttack Rural, Jajpur, Kendrapara,Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Berhampur, Gajapati,Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Deogarh and Dhenkanal Police Districts areattending the 1stPhase from 7.08.2023 to 9.08.2023.
In the 2nd phase, Thirty eight (38) officers of the same rank from the remaining police districts of Odisha would be attending the training from 10.08.2023 to 12.08.2023.As Cyber Crime is increasing rapidly, the prime objective of this training is to equip Police Officers with knowledge and skill in the Cyber Crime investigation. Further, an increasing trend of online abuse against children and women has been noticed. This calls for specialized training andutilization of different kinds of tools and techniques to handle such cyberoffences. This training program will be covering issues like the evolving nature of Cyber Crimes, Technical Skills, Digital Forensics, Legal Issues, Collaboration and Information Sharing with other agencies, Victim Supportand Empathy etc.
The training programme was on Monday inaugurated by State DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal, at Cyber Complex, Bhubaneswar. As the Chief Guest of the programme he expressed his happiness on the response of officers attending the training. He advised them to be fully attentive while listening to the resource persons who have got vast and pragmatic knowledge to resolve critical Cyber Crimes. DGP said that the officers attending these trainings, in due course, can lead cyber teams in their respective districts.
Arun Bothra, ADGP, CID-CB thanked the DGP for approving extra manpower human and financial resources for the Cyber Wing under CID-CB. He informed that the Cyber Complex, Bhubaneswar will be fully operational soon. He also invited the trainees to make use of the talent and expertise of the resource persons as such programmes are occasional and precious. Manna Biswas, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF, Odisha attending the programme on behalf of UNICEF briefed how the criminals are shifting from the traditional crimes to this Cyber field raising a majorchallenge for the cyber safety. Shefeen Ahamed K, IGP CID-CB extending his vote of thanks stressed upon the role of district police in the combat against Cyber Crime. He said that CID-CB will be conducting such trainings regularly.
