BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: The 1985 batch Odisha Cadre IAS Officer, Upendra Prasad Singh, hailing Bihar’s Patna, who is presently Union Secretary in Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, was on Wednesday took over as Union Secretary in Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation as additional charge.
“I took over as Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation in addition to my responsibility as Secretary, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. It’s honour to be associated with two important Missions of the Govt – Jal Jeevan Mission and Swatch Bharat Missionn-II,” the senior IAS officer and former IIT-Kanpur alumnus, said on Wednesday after assuming the charge.
“While JJM is committed to provide safe drinking water in right quantity to all households through Functional Household Tap Connection by 2024, SBM-2 will ensure sustainability of Swachch Bharat Mission and will also work for solid and liquid waste management in rural areas,” Union Secretary Singh added.
Singh has been as Secretary Water Resources since 1.12.2017while he was assigned additional responsibility of Secretary Drinking Water and Sanitation. Singh was earlier served with Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
