BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Thanks to Odisha BJP MPs representing in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for highlighting the Sambalpuri textile handlooms in India’s Parliament with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister lauding the efforts of Party MPs from Odisha, particularly Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari.
“Presented Sambalpuri Masks of different materials, designs, shapes, sizes and colours to the Hon’ble Speaker of Lok-Sabha Sri Om Birla Ji in his Chamber in Parliament in company of Sri Basanta Panda, Sri Nitish Gangadev, Sri Biseswar Tudu, all MPs from Odisha and briefed him about the significance of Sambalpuri Textile,” Bargarh MP and BJP National secretary Suresh Pujari said.
MP Pujari gifted the Sambalpuri textile masks to the parliamentarians and described it as an act to popularise the traditional hand-woven material of western Odisha. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also posted a photo on Twitter thanking Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for wearing a Sambalpuri mask in the Parliament.
