BHUBANESWAR: The State Assembly’s Budget 2022-23 Session began with an address of Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal on Friday.The 9th Session of 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced with adherence to Covid-19 protocol.
This time, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik attended the session post pandemic. In past two years, he was attending the House on virtual mode due to the Covid-19 situation.
As per notification issued earlier by Odisha Assembly, the Budget Session will last for only seven days. The discussion on the Governor’s Address will take place for two days on March 26 and 28. The session will conclude on March 31.
As per the schedule, the Budget for the year 2022-2023 will be presented by Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari on March 30 and the Appropriation Bill will be tabled on March 31.
Meanwhile, the State Assembly on Friday paid rich tributes to the leaders and frontline workers who lost their lives fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved obituary references for the departed members of the House and Covid warriors.
The House paid tributes to sitting member and former Speaker late Kishore Kumar Mohanty, former Chief Minister Hemanand Biswal along with other ex-members late Ram Krushna Patnaik, Duryodhan Majhi, Debaraja Sahu, Uday Narayan Dev, Bijoy Kumar Jena, Kangali Charan Panda, Roshni Singh Deo, Ajit Das and Rajib Lochan Hota.
The House also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families of the Covid warriors, those who laid down their lives in the fight against the pandemic.
One-minute silence was observed in tribute to the departed souls.
