BHUBANESWAR: Padmaraju Ravi Kumar, a youth from Visakhapatnam , staying in Navi Mumbai and works for the JSW Steel, on Tuesday lodged a complaint with Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu alleging that one Odia film industry actress has duped him on pretext of marriage.Ravi Kumar alleged that the actress has taken cash, gold jewellery and a laptop on the pretext of marrying him.
Sources said Padmaraju who works in Navi Mumbai for JSW Steel , had opened an account on a matrimonial website in August 2018. Seeing his profile, a woman contacted Padmaraju while identifying herself as an Ollywood actress. Padmaraju and the actress, a native of Jajpur district, remained in touch over telephone for a few days.
Later Padmaraju visited Odisha and met the actress in Bhubaneswar. As per the allegation, the actress had told Padmaraju she loved him and expressed her desire to marry.
“She asked me for Rs 2 lakh prior to the launch of her movie on different occasions. I also obliged to the request and transferred the amount online,” said Padmaraju. The actress then demanded gold chain and earrings as her birthday gifts that the youth also fulfilled. This apart, she took a laptop from Padmaraju for her personal work.
Padmaraju asked the actress to marry him in August 2019, but she declined to accept the proposal. Following this, when the youth wanted back his laptop, cash and gold jewellery, the actress threatened him of dire consequences. The actress told the youth that if he calls up her, she will file sexual harassment complaint against him.
Disenchanted Padmaraju sought the help of Mumbai Police which asked him to file a complaint before the Odisha Police. He has already mailed his complaint to the Twin City Police Commissioner and Bhubaneswar DCP who have assured of action in this regard. Police looking into the matter.
