RANCHI/BHUBANESWAR: NTPC Mining delivers stellar performance in H1 of FY 2024-25 by producing over 19 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of coal registering YoY growth of 20% and has dispatched 19.7 MMT of coal to NTPC’s power stations with a growth of around 16% compared to last financial year.
In spite of very heavy rainfall in Hazaribagh region of Jharkhand where majority of NTPC’s operating coal mines are located, the company has recorded a production of 9.30 MMT in Q2 FY 24-25 viz-a-viz 7.45 MMT in Q2 FY 23-24 registering a YoY growth of 25% in production. On despatch front, NTPC mining has achieved a YoY growth of 14.5% in Q2 resulting in despatch of approx. 9.5 MMT coal to different power stations.
NTPC Coal Mining has consistently exceeded its production targets, reinforcing its position as a key player in captive coal mining sector. Looking ahead, the annual production target for FY 2024-25 has been progressively increased to 40 MMT compared to last year’s production target of 34 MMT and mining team is committed towards its vision to continue the upward trajectory.
Till date, NTPC Mining has produced more than 123 MMT and has despatched more than 121 MMT of coal from its five operational captive coal mines namely Pakri Barwadih, Kerandari & Chatti Bariatu located in Jharkhand, Dulanga in Odisha and Talaipalli in Chhattisgarh ensuring fuel security for thermal power stations of NTPC which is lighting every 4th bulb of the Nation.
