RANCHI/BHUBANESWAR: Our country is combating against a rapid increase in Covid-19 cases, but a nasty and rare fungal infection affecting some coronavirus patients is dealing the country a double blow – mucormycosis also called black fungus.
NTPC Coal Mining Headquarter (CMHQ),Ranchi organised a Talk on “Mucormycosis – black fungus -What we should know” on 08.06.2021 through MS Team online mode. The talk was conducted by Dr Tapas Sahoo, Sr Consultant & Head of Critical Care, Medanta Hospital, Ranchi.
The talk was inaugurated by Shri Prasant Kashyap ,Regional Executive Director,NTPC CMHQ in presence of Shri Partha Mazumder ,ED(Coal Mining) ,CMHQ and senior officials. Around 70 employees attended the talk. Besides employees of CMHQ and other coal mining projects, the talk was also attended by few Doctors from various stations of NTPC.
The talk spread some vital awareness about the disease like warning symptoms & signs, prevention, myths & misinformation, do’s and don’ts to reduce Mucormycosis, SOP for humidifiers, etc. The Talk was followed by an interesting Question-Answer session which spread further awareness. CMHQ thanked all participants for avidly listening to the lecture and making the Talk highly successful.
During this difficult and unprecedented situation due to the pandemic, this kind of programs by CMHQ will usher in a more close and well-knit relationship between NTPC and reputed medical hospitals like Medanta, etc.“Ultimately the greatest lesson that COVID-19 can teach humanity is that we are all in this together.”
