No use of Mobile Phones in the premises of Shree Lord Jagannatha Temple from January 1

PURI/BHUBANESWAR:  Taking a strong stand, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, which held its meeting under the chairmanship of Gajapati Maharaj Dibya Singh Dev, in Puri on Thursday, decided to ban mobile phones from being carried into Jagannath temple premises with effect from January 1, 2023.

Previously, a similar restriction was clamped on devotees and visitors alone. However, the fresh norm will apply to one and all including policemen, servitors and employees of the 12th century old temple.

SJTA Chief Administrator Vir Vikram Yadav said while briefing mediapersons said that special arrangements will be made for the safe custody of mobile phones at Singhadwar and Dakshina Dwar. Puri district Collector Samarth Verma and SP Kanwar Vishal Singh attended the meeting.
