JEYPORE: National Cadet Corps (NCC) is carrying out a nationwide campaign to free seashores and river banks from plastic & other waste materials and increase awareness about importance of keeping these clean. The aim of ‘Puneet Sagar’ Campaign was to propagate the message of ‘Importance of Clean Seashores and Riverbanks’ amongst the local population and future generation. The day long activities were under taken with lot of zeal and enthusiasm by NCC Cadets of 1 Odisha inf coy NCC Alumni and Jeypore Municipality as well at Khajuri Bandh Jeypore.
Colonel Naveen parashar commanding officer 1Odisha said the NCC cadets of 1 Odisha participated with enthusiasm and vigor in cleaning up the plastic waste along the khajuri bandh pond area. In addition to the cleaning activities, cadets made efforts to popularize the campaign through rallies, interaction with shop keepers and the locals, to generate awareness and educate the target population about measures for conservation and impact of plastic pollution along the pond and other water bodies.
Cadets also made deliberate efforts to sensitise people and mobilise support of local populace in preventing pollution of the pond through one-on-one contact. Executive officer Jeypore Municipality Sidharth Patnaik said such programs in association with the cadets and volunteer will be carried in future to preserve the ponds inside the town he also requested the locals to come forward and to maintain a healthy and clean pond by involving themselves as its there daily need and also appreciated the NCC Cadets for there efforts to aware the locals while Chairman Jeypore Muncipality Narendra mohanty also appreciated the efforts taken by NCC cadets and NCC Alumini.
