BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was on Tuesday written a letter to Union Education Minister seeking postponement of NEET, JEE (Main) Entrance Test

“In view of #COVID19 crisis, CM @Naveen_Odisha has urged Union Education Minister @DrRPNishank to postpone NEET, JEE (Main) Entrance Test. CM said visiting test centres will not be safe for students while transportation gets disrupted due to frequent lockdown/shutdown. #OdishaCares,”, Odisha CMO said

“Citing that students from remote areas may be deprived of appearing for tests as they need to travel long distances, CM urged to open centres in all 30 districts of #Odisha, so that students can go back home same day, facilitating maximum participation of students in these tests,” it said.

Through a letter to Union Education Minister, the Odisha CM wrote: “National Testing Agency (NTA) has scheduled to conduct the JEE (Main) and NEET, 2020 test for admission into the technical and medical courses on 1st -6th September and 13th September, 2020 respectively.

More than 50,000 students from Odisha are appearing in NEET and around 40,000 in JEE (Main) this year. However, NTA has opened examination centres for the said tests in seven townships of the State only. In this context, I would like to say that in view of the prevailing COVID pandemic situation in the country, it would be highly unsafe and perilous for the students to visit the test centres physically to appear in these tests.”
