BHUBANESWAR: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India on Wednesday found faults with the previous Naveen Patnaik government’s much-hyped Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme which helped the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) retain the power in Odisha for the fifth consecutive term.
Odisha Government paid over Rs 782 Crore to 12.72 Lakh ineligible Beneficiaries Under KALIA Scheme, CAG said.
CAG examined the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) database in reference to other databases like SECC, VAHAN, IFMS and HRMS. The analysis revealed that the government had transferred Rs 782.26 crore to 12.72 lakh ineligible beneficiaries under its KALIA scheme.
The report says due to lack of preparedness, in planning, the ex-BJD government did not ensure the feasibility of implementation of the scheme.
