BHUBANESWAR: SN Mohanty Mines Group Chairman Pradipta Mohanty and MD Prabodha Mohanty on Tuesday faced the wrath of Income Tax Sleuths over Tax evasion and others issues.
Mohanty Brothers of SNM Group, were regular at Naveen Patnaik’s business delegation during make in Odisha conclave and as well as during former CM Patnaik’s foreign trip. Recently, Pradbodha Mohanty was seen during Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s Singapore trip .
IT Sleuths conducting raids at multiple locations from Keonjhar to Bhubaneswar to Kolkata. Around 9 to 10 locations of SN Mohanty Mines Group. Mohanty brothers were among the major donors for Naveen Patnaik led BJD, sources said.
Sources said raids are being conducted the company’s offices located in Barbil, MD Prabodh Mohanty’s house at New Forest Park Colony and corporate headquarters at Forest Park in Bhubaneswar. Search operation is also reported to be in progress at the bauxite mine of the group.
A total of six teams of the I-T department are carrying out the raids and scrutinising several documents and files. Searches are also stated to be in progress at an associate office of the company located in Kolkata.
Company alleged involved in illegal mining, forest right violation and others illegal means.Though the exact amount of tax irregularities is not known immediately, it is believed that it is a multi-crore tax evasion scam. The IT department is reportedly questioning the company’s MD and other senior officials in connection with the case.
