BHUBANESWAR/ROURKELA: Call it Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made the mineral rich Sundargarh smile. During his day-long tour to Steel city on Tuesday, ushering in a new era of development in Sundargarh district, Chief Minister Patnaik inaugurated projects worth Rs 835 Crore and laid foundation for projects worth Rs 4080Crore. The projects will give huge boost to infrastructure and socio economic development in the district
Chief Minister Patnaik expressed his happiness and paid tribute to Brave Birsa Munda after coming to Sundargarh. He said the country’s largest hockey stadium that layed the foundation stone will encourage the young generation of the state to move forward in the field of sports.
Further transforming connectivity in Sundargarh, Patnaik laid foundation of projects worth Rs 976.88Crore and inaugurated projects worth Rs 81.44 Crore in the district. The development work include construction of roads, bridges and other road infrastructure.
Carrying forward the vision to ensure quality & affordable healthcare to the farthest, Patnaik inaugurated & laid foundation for healthcare projects worth ₹110 Crore for Sundargarh. Patnaik inaugurated and laid foundation for a Mega Piped Water Supply Projects worth Rs 1611 Crore in Sundargarh. The projects will supply potable drinking water to people of 10 blocks of the district benefiting more than 700 villages.
In a major boost to education sector in Sundargarh, Patnaik laid foundations and inaugurated projects worth Rs 366Crore. They include development of modern schools, Planetarium and Science Park, girls’ schools, residential schools and Adarsha Vidyalayas.
Patnaik inaugurated 11 mega lift irrigation projects in Sundargarh district, including Parbati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation project. The projects worth Rs 351 Crore, will irrigate 11,635 hectares of farmland and benefit farmers of the district immensely.
To transform Rourkela into a smart city, Chief Minister laid foundations for projects worth ₹ 470 Cr. These include Rourkela One Integrated Centre, sanitation, and development of Smart Road in Phase II & redevelopment of Panposh Market. The definition of development is changing in Sundargarh district. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is laying the foundation laying of various projects today to give priority to the facilities of the people of the district and to advance the flow of development.
