Naveen Patnaik Launches ‘Drink from Tap Mission’ – ‘Sujal’ in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched ‘Drink from Tap Mission’ – ‘Sujal’ 12 pilot areas of Bhubaneswar and Puri. 5T Secretary V K Pandian coordinated the event while Minister, H & UD, Law, PR & DW, Pratap Jena addressed the event through Video Conference from Bhadrak. Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister, S & T, PE and SS & EPD participated in the event from Salia Sahi, Bhubaneswar and distributed MPoS devices, water quality test kits to the Jal Sathis and also distributed Plumber Training Certificates to the migrant workers.

 Similarly, Tusharkanti Behera, Minister, E & IT, Sports & YS participated in the event from Puri and handed over MPoS devices, water quality test kits to the Jal Sathis. Bhubaneswar and 3 more cities have achieved 100% coverage of pipe water supply with house connections and Bhubaneswar becomes the 1st Million plus city in the Country to achieve this.

CM Patnaik said that by March 2021, fifty percent of cities will achieve 100% coverage with house connections and by March 2022, the remaining fifty percent cities will achieve the same, thus making urban Odisha to achieve 100% houses covered with pipe water connections. On this occasion, he announced the commencement of Water Supply Augmentation Works for providing Drink from Tap Quality Water to all households in 15 more cities, which will benefit 15 Lakh urban population of the state.
