Naveen Patnaik inaugurates Slum Up-Gradation Programee to Transform 2919 Slums in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: With a vision of slum free cities under #JAGAMission, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated Slum Upgradation Programme to transform 2919 slums in #Odisha. The programme started from Baleswar in Balesore, the land of Fakir Mohan Senapati and CM said all slums will be transformed into model colonies in next three years.

CM said that slum dwellers contribute immensely to development of urban space; their welfare is a priority of government. CM also started distribution of Land Entitlement Certificates 1,05,000 people which will be expanded to 4.5 lakh people in 101 municipalities.

An MoU was signed between Centre for Policy Research and Housing & Urban Development Department, Govt. of Odisha to support #JAGAMission as Knowledge Partner. It will ensure integration of slums into city fabric & development of living space for urban poor. CM dedicated 116 Multi-Purpose Community Centres- #PARICHAYA for slum dwellers.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Patnaik laid the foundation stone for two bridges in Jagatsinghpur district through videoconferencing, said that the government has always stressed on infrastructural development and hence been able to create a unique identity for the State.

Chief Minister, Mr.Patnaik  laid the foundation stone for Tirtol-Posal bridge and Jaipur-Katikata bridge. Patnaik conveyed his greetings on the occasion of ‘Parban’ of Goddess Sarala and lauded the Jagatsinghpur district for its contribution to the fields of Odia language and literature, culture and for being a distinct trade route.

The Tirtol-Postal high-level bridge is being constructed at a cost of about Rs. 118.56 crores whereas the Jaipur-Katikata bridge will be constructed at the cost of Rs 82.55 lakh.The bridges over the Mahanadi river are expected to bring a new lease of life for the blocks of Tirtol, Kujang, Raghunathpur and Garadapur in Jagatsinghpur district.On completion, the bridges will provide enhanced connectivity with Cuttack and Kendrapada districts and shall benefit about 2.5 lakh residents of 28 villages.

Minister Works, Prafulla Kumar Mallik took part in the event from Dhenkanal via video conferencing. Jagatsinghpur MP Rajshree Mallick, Jagatsinghpur MLA Prashant Muduli and Paradeep MLA Sambit Routray attended from the event site.5T Secretray VK Pandian, Development Commissioner, Suresh Chandra Mohapatra,  ACS Rural Development Pradeep Jena, Principal Secretary of Finance, Asoho Kumar Meena and Secretary of the Works Krishan Kumar were present on the occasion.
