Naveen Patnaik Hails DGP Abhay and Co for Odisha Police’s Exemplary Commitment during COVID-19 Crisis

BHUBANESWAR: DGP Abhay and Co was on Friday got huge applauding from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for Odisha Police’s Exemplary Commitment during COVID-19 Crisis. The Odisha CM Patnaik held video conference with senior police officials including IGPs, DIGs, SPs, and CPs .

Patnaik said ‘Zero walking inside Odisha’ was implemented in letter and spirit because of systematic and coordinated hard work by the dedicated police officials. Patnaik extended his sincere appreciation for the good work done by ODRAF and fire service personnel in relief and restoration work in West Bengal after severe cyclonic storm Amphan.

The Odisha CM said that despite the threat of coronavirus the ODRAF and Fire personnel tackled the situation boldly and helped people in distress in Kolkata which was badly hit by the severe cyclonic storm. He urged the DG to prepare an action plan to make more and more manpower available at the police station level.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy appealed to the police officials to carry on their noble work during the pandemic situation and said they are in the forefront while tackling the situation.

The 5T Secretary VK Pandian praised the police for implementing the lockdown guidelines to banish the dreaded coronavirus and added that the police personnel have shown a remarkable professional attitude during the health emergency.

Police DG Abhay said the police have taken stringent action against the perpetrators of family violence. He said 9205 women were contacted by the police on family violence and added that police could find 53 cases were liable for punishment.

He said 24587 inter-state migrants were sent to their respective places under the direction of CM and added that 524 trips were conducted for such purpose.

Police DG said a fine amount of Rs 1,25,84,180 was collected for not wearing masks. Violation of Social distancing has attracted Rs 11,74,350, while Rs 3000 and Rs 1,03,800 were collected as fines for violation of lockdown and night curfew.
