BHUBANESWAR:  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday gifted people of Odisha with Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Project. CM Patnaik approved a proposal of 5T initiative of the State Government steered by 5T Secretary VK Pandian.  

The Metro train service will begin from Bhubaneswar airport to Trisulia covering Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Patia, Nandankanan and Trisulia. The proposed project will be extended to Puri subsequently.

Earlier in the day, Chief Secretary PK Jena along with 5T Secretary VK Pandiian , DC Anu Garg, Electronics and IT Secretary Manoj Mishra and Transport Secretary Usha Padhee on Saturday morning  paid a visit to the proposed site for Metro Train that will run from Cuttack to Puri via Bhubaneswar.  CMC Commissioner, Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, Police Commissioner S Priyadarshi and other senior officials were among those present.

The officials visited proposed sites at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. With State celebrating its formation day today, senior bureaucrats of the State Government were seen busy at work. Since 2018, the State Government has been requesting Union Railways Ministry for the said purpose while no response yet. The Rail project will be implemented under the 5T initiative of the State.
