BHUBANESWAR.BHAWANIPATNA: Odisha Chief Minister on Thursday expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of SOG Jawans Bebashish Sethy of Angul and Sudhir Kumar Tudu of Mayurbhanj who were martyred while fighting the outlawed leftwing Ultras on Kalahandi-Kandhamal border.
“Salute to the martyrdom of Bebashish Sethy of Angul and Sudhir Kumar Tudu of Mayurbhanj who laid down their lives fighting against leftwing extremists. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred jawans. #Odisha will remember the sacrifice of its brave sons,” Naveen Patnaik tweeted@Naveen_Odisha.
In the gun battle, at least 5 Maoists were killed . While four bodies were found from the forest after the gunfight, the body of another Maoist, a female, was recovered during the combing operation on Thursday, Kalahandi’s Superintendent of Police B Gangadhar told press.
Six weapons were recovered from the site and reports of more recoveries are expected as the teams are yet to return to the base camp, he said. Earlier, on July 5 and July 23, seven Maoists were gunned down by the security forces in Sirla Reserve forest area under Tumudibandha police limits in the district.
