Naveen Patnaik Congrats new CAG GC Murmu

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated new CAG of India, GC Murmu. Murmu who hails from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, became first Odia to hold the post of CAG.

“Congratulate #Odisha born IAS officer Girish Chandra Murmu being appointed as Comptroller and Auditor General of India. Wish him best for his new responsibility,” CM Patnaik tweeted.

After Shaktikant Das as RBI Governer, another Odia stalwart and recently resigned Lt. Governor of J&K G C Murmu appoints as 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

In October 2019, he became the 1st Lt. Governor of J&K, after it became a new Union Territory. From which he resigned on 5th August and became the CAG on Thursday replacing Rajiv Mehrishi.

CAG Murmu, hails from a small town called Betnoti, in tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district. One of their brothers, Sirish is a chief general manager in Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai while another, Siba Shankar, is an Indian railway service officer currently posted in Mysore. Manoj is a state government employee. The two other brothers, Dilip and Sarat, are into farming.
