BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday condoled the death of former Balasore MP Kartikeswar Patra, who passed away at 79.Patra was also a former MLA of Bhogarai.
“ବାଲେଶ୍ଵରର ପୂର୍ବତନ ସାଂସଦ, ଭୋଗରାଇର ପୂର୍ବତନ ବିଧାୟକ ତଥା ସୁଲେଖକ ଡ. କାର୍ତ୍ତିକେଶ୍ୱର ପାତ୍ରଙ୍କ ଦେହାନ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ। ଏପରି ଦୁଃଖଦ ସମୟରେ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଙ୍କୁ ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଇବା ସହ ତାଙ୍କ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରୁଛି।,” Chief Minister Patnaik tweeted@Naveen_Odisha.

Sources said former MP Patra was suffering from fever and had tested positive for COVID-19. He complained of severe illness last evening and was being shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar in an ambulance. However, he breathed his last around 11.40 PM near Panikoili in Jajpur. He had won 1991 Lok Sabha polls from Balasore constituency as a Congress candidate. He was also elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Bhograi seat thrice in 1971,1974 and 1980.
