BHUBANESWAR: BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has appointed MP Dr Sasmit Patra, as Leader of Biju Janata Dal in Rajya Sabha and Member of Parliament Sulata Deo, as Chief Whip of BJD in Rajya Sabha.
Biju Janata Dal Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das said this in a press note on Friday.
“I am deeply thankful & grateful to my leader, Hon’ble President, BJD & Hon’ble CM Shri. Naveen Patnaik for appointing me as Leader of BJD Parliamentary Party in Rajya Sabha. I pledge to working hard alongwith all my Party colleagues in RS as a Team & keep raising voice of Odisha,” MP Dr Patra, who is also BJD’s National Spokesperson, said in a tweet.
Recently, Rajya Sabha Chairman & Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu had reconstituted the panel of Vice Chairmen. Rajya Sabha MPs Bhubaneswar Kalita, Indu Bala Goswami, Dr L Hanumanthaiah, Tiruchi Siva, V Vijayasai Reddy and Dr Sasmit Patra are now members of the panel of Vice Chairmen.
